Shakespeare Trust CPD for teachers

Wondering how to give your pupils a great first encounter with Shakespeare?

We have partnered with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust over the past few years to access the expertise of Nicola Hawley and Sally Gray, Education Officers at the Trust.  Both are experienced primary school teachers and have delivered CPD to teachers in both school and heritage settings.

In a two hour workshop with Sally and Nicola you will discover the best ways to engage and inspire children through a hands-on approach to discovering Shakespeare in the primary classroom.  The training will include:

  • Exploring Shakespeare through a range of cross-curricular activities
  • Understanding importance of genuine historical and archival research and evidence
  • Link Shakespeare to the National Curriculum
  • How to devise whole-school Shakespeare themes
  • Reviewing Shakespeare’s plays in the context of the time they were written
  • Learn to embed Shakespeare Week into your school’s curriculum
  • Show Shakespeare is as relevant today as he was 400 years ago
