New Perry Barr Early Help Service

As part of a new area of service delivery for us, with have teamed up to help deliver a Community Connectors service across the Parry Barr area. The aim is for us to help connect schools and other statutory services with community and voluntary organisations providing services, activities and early social support, to ensure families, children and young people get the help they need.

Over the next few months, we are building an asset register of services and organisations working within the ward in Aston, Birchfield, Handsworth, Handsworth Wood, Holyhead, Kingstanding, Lozells, Oscott and Perry Barr, as part of the Early Help provisions team. The register aims to save all organisations time by clearly signposting all the different provisions and services offered within the area providing early help support.

This is intended to make it easier for families in the community to connect to the assets they may need. The hope is that this will also provide further opportunity for organisations in and around Perry Barr (as well as city- and nation-wide where appropriate) to collaborate and connect with one another, pooling together resources to benefit the community.

We will be holding information sessions for professionals over the next few months that you are welcome to attend, and small organisations will be able to find out more about community grants that are available through the program.

Early Help means taking action to support a child, young person or their family early in the life of a problem, as soon as it emerges. It can be required at any stage in a child’s life from pre-birth to adulthood, and applies to any problem or need that the family cannot deal with or meet on their own. It also applies to all children and young people, with any form of need.

Early Help requires that agencies should work together as soon as a problem emerges or a need is identified to ensure the child gets the right response, and the right services, from the right people at the right time.

Our aim is to meet need early in collaboration and avoid a problem escalating or the need increasing. Early Help is provided to prevent or reduce the need for specialist interventions unless they are absolutely the correct response to meet the need and resolve the problem.

If you would be interested in being added to this asset register, we need consent in the form of a signed return to this email to agree to us being able to store your organisations details for community benefit.

If you would like to know more, please let us know and we can arrange an appropriate time for a virtual meeting.

If there are any services/organisations that you would recommend for the asset register, please do so, or request our flyer for professionals and our family information flyer.
